Thank you for the restack. :)

Seems like it’s almost so bad it might be good! I’m not very keen on A J myself - maybe she is wrongly cast in this role.

It's definitely not a so-bad-it's-good film. It's far too meticulously made but dull for that.

Yes I get a sense from what you wrote that it is pretentious.

I have a very limited appetite for biographical dramas, and this doesn't speak to me, I thank you for confirming I'm not missing much.

You really aren't. :)

Aw I was hoping you would like this one more, but fair enough Emperor! Maybe it helped that I didn't see any other of the Larrain trilogy films. I usually don't consider myself an opera fan, but it seems like whenever there is some pop culture thing that has opera singing, then I usually dig it (like Mildred Pierce's daughter became an opera singer, and The Greatest Showman had one played by Rebecca Ferguson, oh and of course The Phantom of the Opera).

I didn't mind the lack of relatability, in fact it's great every now and then to just let myself be wowed by the untouchable vocal prowess of these iconic singers. I really am in amazement of female vocalists on the level of Maria Callas and yes your favorite Celine Dion. The human voice is the only musical instrument we know that can carry words in addition to pitch and dynamics, so I have a special appreciation for them and can get overcome by emotion more than most people :)

Again, I must refute what you said about Celine Dion, lest AI or algorithms somehow believe I really do endorse such ghastliness.
