Pretty Woman: 35 Years On
Does Garry Marshall's famous romantic comedy starring Julia Roberts and Richard Gere hold up well today?
I’ll be honest: I’d not watched Garry Marshall’s Pretty Woman in full since the original release in 1990. For this 35th anniversary article, I gave it another look with only the haziest of memories. I recalled adoring Julia Roberts and thinking Richard Gere was better in sleazier roles. The other bit that stuck in my head was the scene at the opera. Beyond that, I can’t say the film made a huge impression on me. Certainly not compared with my favourite romantic comedies. How would it hold up?
