Yes, that’s why “autism friendly” cinema screenings are often quieter. Personally, I don’t mind loud sound in the right contexts (such as cinemas) where sound is specifically designed to be loud. But I can’t bear quiet but intrusive sounds (such as the sound of sweet wrappers in cinemas during quiet moments, because the sound design at that moment is meant to be quiet - I hope that makes sense).
"hyperacusis (extreme sensitivity to sound)..." I and a lot of other autistic people have this kind of sensitivity as part of our diagnosis.
